The process of brailing the salmon catch
from PNW traps.
Trap fishing was banned in WA in 1934.
According to a Whatcom dispatch to the Seattle P-I, a company with an unlimited amount of Eastern capital behind it, with Mr. R. Ougffroy, formerly of Seattle, but later of Fairhaven, at its head, has secured control of every fish trap of known capabilities from Anacortes to the Canadian boundary line. They have bought the trap locations outright and the first payments have been made on them. Altogether the combine will control about as many traps as the Alaska Packers Assoc, that has nineteen. Together the two concerns will control the entire fish business in this region from present appearance. The capital already assured of investment in trap locations will be about a quarter of a million. It is said that two new canneries will be put in this summer to handle the catch.
